Rolex Day-Date ref. 18238 (1991) is the classic gold Day-Date: solid yellow gold, 36mm case, and a bold yet refined wrist presence that balances authority with elegance. It replaced the ref. 18038 and introduced the caliber 3155 with Double Quickset for day and date—a relatively small technical change that nonetheless greatly improves everyday convenience and usability. Later superseded by the slightly more modern ref. 118238, many collectors nonetheless prefer the 18238 for its more classic, restrained proportions and timeless character.
